Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

I made a LOT of this for the Boy Scout Spaghetti Supper.  It heats well in the crock pot.  I’ve included the large recipe amounts at the bottom.

Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

5 cups (46 oz jar) Ragu or other prepared spagetti sauce

2 cups (16 oz can) diced tomatoes

2 cups (16 oz can) crushed tomatoes

8 cloves crushed garlic

1 lb ground beef

Brown beef with garlic.  Add sauces. Season with basil to taste if needed.  Heat in a crock pot 4-6 hours on low, 2-3 hours on high or in a skillet for 30 minutes to an hour.

For 140 cups:

14 (46 oz jars) Ragu

3 – #10 cans diced tomatoes

2 – #10 cans crushed tomatoes

108 cloves of garlic

14 lb ground beef

For a large group, try pre-cooking the pasta until amost al dente, cool with cold water in colander, drain and put in ziplock bags.  This will keep well for a day.  On the day of serving, heat water to boiling, add pre-cooked pasta until warm again, about 1-2 minutes.  Drain and serve.
